It’d been going on longer than you would have liked.
The secretive glances to one another, the whispers that were almost immediately by muffled giggles. They’d look up at you, whisper fervently before he would ask you that dreaded one question.
Eren leaned into Levi’s side and shot a glance your way before whispering something into his ear. Levi’s grey eyes rose to meet your own, then settled back on Eren’s. The corners of his lips twitched at whatever was said.
Didn’t they have any shame?
Didn’t they know they were hurting your feelings?
Eren peeled himself away from Levi’s side to lean towards you inconspicuously as his eyes flickered over the cards in your hands. He scooted back to Levi’s side and immediately tugged on Levi’s shirt, whispering once again into his ear.

Pressing his lips together in an effort to not to smirk, Levi asked, “Do you have an 8?”
Of course you did. His devil’s spawn had seen it.
Thrusting the card at them, Eren took it from you and pressed his face into his father’s side. Only three cards left and Mommy would lose.
“How about a 3?”

Eren was struggling now to keep his giggles stifled now.
“A 7?”
“Just take them both!”
Eren burst out laughing, falling on the floor. “Mommy lost! Mommy lost!”
“Because you’re a little cheater!” You crossed you arms over your chest and sneered. “You’re lucky I love you, you little Gremlin, or else I’d put you for adoption.”
Eren froze, his whole body tensed as he stared at your face. “Daddy wouldn’t let you!” He turned to his still smug father with wide eyes. “Right, daddy?”
“Of course I wouldn’t.” Levi paused to pull the child to his side and squeezed him tight. “We’d just get a new mommy if she tried.”
You mouth fell open, disbelief all over you face. Sucking in a deep breath, you gave him a smile before standing up. Brushing off imaginary dirt off your thighs, you looked at him and said, “Good. I’ve always like Erwin better anyways.”
Giving him bigger smile, you walked away.

Time seemed to pass slowly as your words finally clicked in his mind. Levi’s brows furrowed, still staring at the door you’d left through.
“Oi!”
He paused, waiting for your response, only for silence to answer him.
“(f/n)!”
More silence.
Eren fidgeted at his side, understanding something had happened and it wasn’t good.
“(f/n)! You were kidding, right?” Levi called out, the desperation in his voice bleeding through.
Still more silence.
“Right?!”
